Here are some tips to keep your pet safe this Halloween:
* Keep your treats out of reach. If your pet does happen to get into a tasty treat immediately call your veterinarian or ASPCA Poison Control Centerat (888) 426-4435. If you are unable to reach us please contact Valley Veterinary Emergency & Referral Center at (540)662-7811.
*Sometimes decorations can be a delicious treat to our furry friends. It's best to keep those out of reach as well or if it's just too tempting best to get rid of it all together. No one wants to rush their baby to the Vet for emergency surgery. Also ensure your pet can't be easily tangled up.
*Be mindful when dressing up your pooch. Look for signs of stress as not all pets enjoy dressing up as much as you do. You can even try something simple like a festive bandana or collar. If you have something more elaborate planned, be sure to do a test trial.
*Lastly keep your pet safe while you receive those trick-or-treater's at your door. If your pet stresses over the door bell, temporarily disconnect it or have someone standby to greet your visitors. You can also keep your pet secluded in a room with background noice (TV, radio, Music, etc).
